Obituary of Thomas Richard Ryan

Thomas Richard Ryan, age 79, of Cookstown, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles Ryan and Catherine Ryan (Shaughnessy). Tom worked as a Civil Engineer for over 38 years for the New Jersey Department of Transportation. He loved crossword puzzles and anything with numbers. Tom was a parishioner at the Church of St. Monica in Jackson, NJ. He was a district deputy and a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council 11529. Tom was a very sharp, quick witted and intelligent man. He loved to joke and had an outstanding sense of humor. He adored his family and loved all his children. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tom is predeceased by his parents, his son Daniel Ryan, his brother Robert Ryan and his two sisters, Cathleen Morales and Sister Dolores Ryan.
He leaves behind his wife Donna of 28 years; his 6 children, Mary Ryan of Princeton, Thomas Ryan and his wife Chris Ann of Pennsylvania, Kathleen Ryan of Florida, Christopher Ryan and his wife Alexis of Bridgewater, Christine Rushing and her husband Wayland of Missouri, and Eileen Ryan and her husband Thai Pham of Texas; his step-son Jeremy Docherty; his adored grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Rivkin, Hailey Ryan, Alexander and Arianna Rushing, Ryan and Lilian Pham, Katherine and Trinity Ryan; his brother Charles Ryan and wife Loretta of Toms River; his sister Mary Kennedy of Pennsylvania and his sister-in-law Patricia Ryan of New York.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2PM to 4PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533 (TilghmanFH.com) and again on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM. A funeral mass will take place at the Church of St. Monica in Jackson NJ at 12PM. Interment will follow the mass at Church of Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tom’s memory to the Knights of Columbus Council 11529, 679 W. Veterans Hwy, Jackson, NJ 08527.
