Obituary of Peter B. Bekisz

Peter B. Bekisz, age 98, of New Egypt passed away Tuesday, March 29 at home. Born in New York City, he was a resident of Flushing, Queens before moving to New Egypt in 2002.
Peter was a retired firefighter with the FDNY. After his retirement from the fire department he was employed with the Internal Revenue Service. Peter was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt, NJ and a former parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Queens, NY. Peter was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus: Assumption Council 10900. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Peter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Peter is predeceased by his beloved wife Wanda A. Bekisz in 2008 and his parents William and Bertha (Gerepka) Bekisz. He leaves behind his son Peter Bekisz and his wife Lynn of Rochester NY; his daughters, Marlene DeLuca and her husband Phil of New Egypt NJ and Diana Lapiano of Garrison NY; five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2-4PM and again from 6-8PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9AM on Monday, April 4, 2014 at the Church of the Assumption Chapel, located at 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt NJ 08533. Interment will follow at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter’s memory to the Eternal Word Television Network, C/O Mother M.
