Anna Maria (Schmal) Casadona, 89 years old, of New Egypt, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born in Germany to the late Heinrich and Lina Schmal. Anna is predeceased by her husband, George Joseph Casadona, and her two brothers, Fritz Schmal and Wilhelm Schmal. She is survived by her three children, Karen Reid of New Egypt, NJ, James Casadona and his fiancé Kim Baguley of Delray Beach, FL and Anne Casadona of Orlando, FL; her step-daughter, Diane Procopio and her husband Gene of Naples, FL; her seven grandchildren, David Reid of Weehawken, NJ, Kerry Montalvo of Bridgewater, NJ, Cheryl Tomko and her husband Shawn of Jackson, NJ, Lauren Dean and her husband Josiah of Hookset, NH, Kristen Casadona of Colorado Springs, CO, James Casadona, Jr. of Kaneohoe Bay Marine Base, Oahu, Hawaii, and Nicole Casadona of Orlando, FL; and her four great-granddaughters, Skylar Tomko, Addison Montalvo, Violet Dean and Annabel Dean. Anna left Germany to move to the United States during WWII and married an American soldier. Being a military family they moved quite often and finally settled in New Egypt in 1963. Anna loved art and music, and she played the piano and the German accordion and was an active member of the Plumsted Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. After more than 70 years in the US, she was still known for her thick German accent. Funeral services for Anna will be held on Monday, September 14 from 9am with burial to follow at Jacobstown Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held on Sunday, September 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Tilghman’s Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
