David G. Powell, age 74, of Toms River passed away Thursday, October 2 at Arbors Care Center in Toms River. Born in Teaneck, NJ, he lived in Toms River for the past 1 ½ years and previously he lived in Daytona Beach, FL for 16 years and Jackson, NJ for 20 years. David served in the US Navy for 7 years in the 1960’s. He was retired from E.I. DuPont in Parlin, NJ. He was a member of the Daytona Beach Moose Lodge and also the South Amboy First Aid Squad. David was a beloved father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife, Fay Rae (nee Josselyn) Powell in 2013. He is survived by four children, Michelle Powell of Toms River, David Powell, Jr. of Lakehurst, Alan Powell and wife Keri of Blakeslee, PA and Russell Powell and wife Audra of Milford, PA; six grandchildren, Kyle Firuta, Thomas Penn, McKenna Powell, Zachary Powell, Kara Powell and Justin Powell; a brother, Richard Powell of Florida; three sisters, Joyce Silvani and husband Al of Toms River, Jenette Powell of Whiting and Claudia Cittadino of Indiana and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for David will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ 08562 with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
