Patricia M. (Corrigan) Sweeney, age 70, passed away Tuesday, June 29 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin. Born in Trenton, she had been a resident of Chesterfield and North Hanover before to Barnegat Light in 1997. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Trenton and a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brant Beach. She was retired from the NJ Department of the Treasury. Mrs. Sweeney was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and painting. Most of all she loved having her grandchildren come to stay at her beach home. Daughter of the late Charles A. and Grace H.M. (McCoy) Corrigan and sister of the late Anne Bernhard, she is survived by her husband, Charles D. Sweeney; a son, Charles D. Sweeney III of New Egypt; and a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon A. and Christopher Smalley of Manassas, VA. There are six wonderful grandchildren, Kyle Patrick and Megan Kerry Sweeney and Alexander A., Eric C., Chelsea L. and Morgan R. Smalley; a brother, Thomas P. Corrigan of Titusville; a sister, Marie E. Stout of Massapequa, NY; 19 nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, John E. Sweeney and wife Evelyn of North Carolina and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Fry of Waretown. A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening, July 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
