Obituary of Richard Hardy

Richard Hardy, age 48, of Cookstown died suddenly Saturday, March 6 at home. Born in South Amboy, he was a resident of the Cookstown area since 1988. Rick was a full time technician for the 108th Air Refueling Wing and a Master Sergeant in the New Jersey Air National Guard. Rick was a past commander of the VFW Post 6590 in Cookstown and was currently serving as Junior Vice-Commander. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Margaret Hardy; a brother, Thomas Hardy and a sister, Margaret Hardy. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (nee Fabiano) Hardy and two daughters, Nicole New and Samantha Hardy; two brothers, Robert Hardy and wife Helen of New Egypt and John Hardy and wife Mary of Jackson; a sister, Janet Shoaff and husband Paul of Sayreville; and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Rick also leaves behind many dear friends, especially his father-in-law, Frank Fabiano of Bensalem, PA and his brother-in-law, Frank Fabiano, Jr. and wife Janell of Limerick, PA. He will also be missed by his faithful companion, Midnite. Calling hours for Rick will be held on Tuesday evening, March 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Funeral services and burial will be on Thursday, March 11 at 12:30 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Please arrive at the funeral home by 12:00 Noon on Thursday to drive to the cemetery in procession. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rick?s memory may be made to the Leonard Sexton Memorial VFW Post 6590, 22 Veterans Way, Cookstown, NJ 08511.
