Pung Hung Wong of Eatontown passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He was 57. Pung was born in Canton, China and has lived in Eatontown for the past 26 years. He received a bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering at NJIT. Pung retired from the US Air Force as a Lt. Colonel after serving his country for over 25 years. He served during the Gulf War and assisted in supporting rescue efforts during 9/11. He was active with the Boy Scouts, especially Troop #124 of Tinton Falls and Troop #253 of Eatontown. Pung was an avid photographer, enjoyed traveling, enjoyed painting and he loved to study the Civil War. Pung?s biggest love though was his family; he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Hilda Wong; his loving children: Jonathan, Katherine, and Lawrence Wong; his loving parents: Kwok Hung Wong and Wai-Ching Wong; and his loving brothers: Hung Yen, Hung Wah, and Hung Foo Wong. Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 28th at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt. Relatives and Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening August 27th from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the funeral home; and Friday morning August 28th from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle?s Veteran Cemetery in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Pung to CEMC (Chinese Evangel Mission Church), 97 Madison St., New York, NY 10002.
