Walter R. Summers, age 85, of Browns Mills died Tuesday, February 24 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in Philadelphia, Walter was a resident of Browns Mills for the past 30 years. Walter was retired from the US Air Force with the rank of TSGT after 24 years of service. He was a ball turret gunner during WWII in a B-17, flying 35 missions over England and Germany. After his retirement from the Air Force, Walter worked for Reedman Motors in Langhorne, PA and also in the tool room at Delaval Turbine in Florence. Brother of the late Katherine Haas; George is survived by his wife, Pauline (nee Dye) Summers; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Denise Summers of Phillipsburg, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie and Jim Patterson of Perry, GA; a brother, Bud Summers of Reeders, PA; two sisters, Lillie Lalley of Clearwater, FL and Mary Carrcciola of Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Aaron, Stephanie, Kasey and Morgan Summers and Matthew and Sarah Patterson; two great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Funeral and interment services will be held on Friday, February 27 at 11:30 AM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Walter?s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
