James Gunther, age 92 of Durham, NC passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home. Born in Paterson, NJ to James Gunther and Marie (Schwab) Gunther, he lived in Cream Ridge for over 30 years. He worked for Local 24 plumber ‘s union until he retired. He was a volunteer fireman in Leonia and Saddle River NJ. He was a Parishioner and a member of the Knights of Columbus at Assumption church, in New Egypt. He was known as the” Lynhurst Plumber” in the racing circuit. He was a very familiar Modified in NE dirt racing (car #52). Preceded by his wife Bobby Jean (Sammons) Gunther. James is survived by his daughters Yovone Bucholtz-Rasor, Pamela Stewart and his son Donald Penwarden. He has 5 grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A funeral Mass will be held Tues. Dec. 3 at 10:00AM with burial to follow in the Assumption Cemetery, NJ.
