Obituary of Allan M. Levinbook

Please share a memory of Allan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Allan Levinbook, 85, of Delran, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024. Born on August 10, 1938 in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania, Allan was the cherished son of Louis Levinbook and Sarah (Friedman) Levinbook. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Irwin Levinbook, Beverly Levinbook (Landis), and Grace Levinbook (Van De Rijn). After graduating from high school, Allan briefly attended Penn State University before enlisting in the Army in January 1956. He served honorably as a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, stationed in Berlin, Germany, until January 1959. Following his military service, Allan embarked on a successful career with Morse Shoe, where he worked as a district manager for over 30 years. His dedication and hard work were evident throughout his long tenure with the company. Allan's life was forever changed in 1962 when he met Anita, the love of his life, at a wedding. The two were married on April 4, 1964, and shared a beautiful 54-year marriage until Anita's passing on August 24, 2018. Their union was blessed with three daughters, Laura (Robert) Bush, Debra (Edward) Chmiel, and Leah (James) Gunning. Allan was a proud and devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren: Steven Bush, Megan Bush, Alexis Chmiel, Jonathon Chmiel, Aiden Gunning, Alyssa Gunning, and Ashton Gunning. Allan and Anita also found joy in running a successful craft business for over 20 years, developing many close friendships through various craft shows. Allan was a passionate baseball fan, especially of the Red Sox and Phillies, and a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles supporter, holding season tickets for many years alongside his good friend Al Parton. Traveling was another of Allan and Anita's great loves. They enjoyed numerous cruises and generously included their whole family on several of these trips. At home, Allan could often be found in his rocking chair, reading the newspaper, and keenly observing the stock market as an avid investor. In his final years, Allan was lovingly cared for by his daughters, Laura, Debra, and Leah, who remained by his side until the very end. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication to family will be cherished by all who knew him. Allan Levinbook will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, at Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt, NJ, from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ, at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Allan’s name to Samaritan Gift Processing Center located at P.O. Box 71425 Philadelphia, PA 19176-1425.
