My memories of Roger are from 50+ years ago (which is scary in its own way). On a visit to Lakenheath I recall Roger patiently trying to explain to a young British teenager the rules of American Football as we watched a game, I think it was a lost cause! Being taken into the hanger for a close up look a fighter (of some description) also remains in my memory, normally we just saw these flash across the sky at our school in nearby Bury St Edmunds. Again Roger explaining in a way that we as children easily understood. Finally ice crem soda’s, I say no more!
Roger and Tinas visits to us with the girls was always a lively time, with sledging on the adjacent field and undoubtably swimming. But the abiding memory is Roger and Tina being seated in the middle of the table constantly passing things to the 8 children that surrounded them whilst my parents, Ian and Katherine sat at the ends of the table.
Thank you Roger for creating such wonderful memories for all of us. Brian and the Rose family our thoughts are with you all.
