Jane M. Starke, a beloved wife, devoted mother, treasured friend and cherished social worker passed away on July 19, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Phoenixville, PA on March 29, 1933, to William and Marguerite Maguire, Jane brought a radiant light and laughter to the lives of all who knew her. With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a joyful woman whose legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. Raised in Phoenixville, PA, Jane was an exceptional student graduating from Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Chestnut Hill College and earning her Masters from Rutgers University as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). After graduate school, Jane’s adventurous spirit led her to New York City where she embarked on a fulfilling career as a social worker at St. Vincent’s Hospital. At work, Jane’s unwavering commitment to helping young mothers and their families showcased her boundless empathy and kindness. It was during her time in NYC that Jane’s path intertwined with that of her soulmate, Dr. John J. Starke. Together, they built a love story that would stand the test of time. In 1966, they exchanged vows, and their journey of enduring devotion began. For over 57 years, they cherished each other, weathering life’s joys and challenges with unwavering love and support, even going to their eternal resting place within one week of each other. Jane’s heart was always with her family, and she and Jack decided to settle in Little Silver, NJ, where they lovingly raised their four children: Charles, Cynthia, Christopher, and John James. She exemplified patience, kindness, and a sense of humor that brightened the lives of her loved ones and friends. Even beyond her immediate family, Jane’s nurturing nature extended to her students at St. Ann’s school in Keansburg, NJ, where she was a dedicated social worker helping the children and families there. Her impact on her students was immeasurable, as she approached her role with kindness, care, and a delightful sense of humor. A practical joker at heart, she brought smiles and laughter to all who crossed her path. Beyond her roles as a wife and mother, Jane was known for her vivacious and adventurous nature. She had a zest for life that was infectious, and she reveled in her favorite pastimes: golf, skiing and tennis. Her love for these activities brought joy and camaraderie to her family and
friends’ creating wonderful memories that will forever be cherished. Jane will be missed by all.
