Marlon Anthony Thomas was born July 20, 1955 to the late Clarence Thomas and Sadie Fields in Jersey City, New Jersey. He passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Fords, New Jersey by his late devoted aunt and uncle; Ida Mae and Robert Moffett. Marlon graduated from Woodbridge High School. He proudly served as a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. Marlon worked in Facilities management throughout his life and was an excellent Barber. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and always kept a room laughing. He was a great singer and sang with different groups during his lifespan.
Marlon was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed.
Marlon was predeceased by his sister Beverly Palmer of East Orange, NJ; brother, Michael Robert Thomas Sr. of Sayreville, NJ; and former wife Joyce Winstead of Raleigh, NC. He is survived by his two daughters Tanisha Y. Winstead of Raleigh, NC and Shantrina C. Ellington of Carteret, NJ; his six grandchildren Brittany U. Winstead, Tyrik Winstead of Raleigh, NC and Da’Avian Ellington, Ray’Mani Ellington, Sa’Naa Ellington, Sa’Riyan Larios of Carteret, NJ; one great-granddaughter Ka’lynn Small of Raleigh, NC; one brother Clarence E Thomas of East Orange, NJ; his former wife Sharon Thomas of Keasbey, NJ ; five nephews Gregory Harmon of Jersey City, NJ, Michael Thomas Jr. of Sayreville, NJ, Jonathan A. Thomas of Perth Amboy, NJ, Dwayne M Thomas of Sayreville, NJ, Shaune E Thomas of Sayreville, NJ; three great-nephews Gregory Harmon Jr. of Jersey City ,NJ, Michael Robert Thomas III of Sayreville, NJ and Dwayne M. Thomas Jr. of Sayreville, NJ; two sisters-in-law Toleather Thomas of Sayreville, NJ and Keeley Thomas of East Orange, NJ; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
A viewing for Marlon will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 12 PM to 1 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 with interment to follow at BGWCD Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marlon’s name can be made to National League of POW/MIA Families,
