Eleanor Mae Switzer, age 68, of New Egypt, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. She was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late James and Helen Heatherly on April 10, 1952. Eleanor graduated from Boiling Springs High School and married the love of her life, James Switzer on June 13, 1970. She studied journalism and was a reporter for a time. Eleanor also enjoyed traveling the country with her husband. She was a very spiritual woman and had a soft spot for animals, rescuing several. Eleanor enjoyed gardening deeply and greatly loved her grandchildren. She had a tenacity matched by very few and a love and vigor for life of all kinds. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.
Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, James and Helen (nee Chesser) Heatherly; her uncle Fred Heatherly; along with several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, James Switzer of New Egypt; her son, Adam Switzer and wife Karla of New Egypt; three grandchildren, Bradley, Wyatt and Zoey; her brother, James Heatherly of South Carolina; her half-brother, Jeff Heatherly; her half-sister, Pamela Caruso; her aunt, Lillie Brown and various others.
Services for Eleanor are being held private at the convenience of the family. All arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt.
