Obituary of Douglas N. Torrey

Douglas N. “Doug” Torrey, age 61, of New Egypt passed away Friday, August 30 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.

Doug worked as a warehouse manager for Huffman Koos in Lawrenceville.  He was avid NASCAR and Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the outdoors.  But most of all, Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  A big thank you goes out to a special sister-in-law, Lynn Pietras of Lambertville who lovingly guided family towards peace at this time; his niece, Christina Hilton of Maryland who’s support and love helped family throughout this difficult time and his special nurses who lovingly cared for Doug at DaVita Dialysis in Browns Mills.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruth Torrey; a brother, Kenneth Torrey and a sister, Helen Bague.  He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cheryl (Heller) Torrey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cristy and Justin Nelson of New Egypt and Nicole and Corey Lane of New Egypt; a brother, Albert Torrey of Trenton; a sister, Ruth Lewis of Maryland; five grandchildren, Haylee, Brayden, Gracie, Ryan and Jaxon and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Doug will be held on Wednesday, September 4 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533.  Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Zion Cemetery in New Egypt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with expenses.
