Obituary of Jesse C. Carroll
Jesse Claude Carroll, age 86, of North Hanover Twp. and formerly of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 24, 1932 to the late William and Blanche Carroll. He open a radio repair shop with his uncle in San Francisco before he joined the marines. Jesse proudly served in the US Marine Corps as a Sgt. during the Korean War, where he taught radio and radar repair. He was also an amateur ham radio operator and still held his license throughout the years. Jesse worked as an electronics engineer for RCA. During his career, he worked on the space program, communication satellites and was a leader in the development of the first Video Disc Player. He retired from the David Sarnoff Research center in Princeton. He was able to fix or repair anything and everything for anyone. Jesse was always willing to help a friend in need. He was a dependable, giving and caring person and was also a California State Champion in ping pong. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be sorely missed.
Jesse is predeceased by his parents and by his first wife Elizabeth (Reece) Carroll. He leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Theo Carroll of North Hanover Twp.; 2 sons, David Carroll of Pennsylvania and Andy Carroll and wife Donna of Jacobstown; his daughter Alice Holmes and husband David of Tabernacle; his step-daughter Krissie Gill and Husband Michael of Hainesport; grandchildren, Michelle Kruize and husband James of Richmond VA; Christine Holmes of Dover DE; Steven Holmes and wife Victoria of Hamilton Twp.; Katrina Carroll of North Hanover; Nichole Carroll of Burlington; Mckenzie Carroll of North Hanover, Spencer Carroll of North Hanover and Step Granddaughter Neveah Gill of Hainesport; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryan Kruize, Samantha Kruize, Danielle Kruize and Lucas Holmes.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 10AM to 12PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 12PM at the funeral home with interment to follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jesse’s honor to Deborah Hospital Foundation, 212 Trenton Rd, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
