His memory is indelibly imprinted in my mind and my career, and his kindnesses shall be forever treasured, always coming through unexpected phone calls and quick meetings thereafter to discuss an idea, project, or just to share a memory about the glory days of radio, especially where our armed forces were involved. My Condolences and prayers to the family and the WIMG family. Mr Morris was a great man that gave so many an opportunity to learn at WIMG. He taught me so much, from Washington Crossing to the current site. From sales to host. His children exemplify his kindness and business savvy. I served with Johnny at the headquarters of The American Forces Network, Europe in Hoechst, West Germany, a suburb of Frankfurt, from 1960 to 1961. I was next door in sports, and then as a newscaster. Johnny was one of the most popular civilians on the staff and was a close friend of our News Director Ed DeFontaine, with whom he continued a friendship long after their AFN duties were over. Johnny had an infectious laugh and smile and it helped him get to interview many of the most important show business stars and political leaders of his time during the late 1950s and through the 1960s. I have had the pleasure of visiting Johnny at his home in Robbinsville for the past ten years or so, following the Homecoming ceremonies at the prep school I attended in nearby Pennington. His death will leave a big hole in the hearts of all who knew him at AFN. He was a really great broadcaster and a wonderful man. Pvt. Andrew N. Guthrie AFN Network Newsroom Hoechst am Main 1960-1961

I want to send my condolences to the family of Johnny Morris. In 1982, he took a chance on me...and gave me my first job in New Jersey radio as a copywriter at WHWH and WPST. Little did I know that it would change my life...and that I would work with so many people who became life-long friends. Johnny was a "Lion" in this business...and I was in awe of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family tonight. I owe my career to him...and I thank him for everything I learned from my coworkers at Nassau Broadcasting.
