Rosella S. “Rose” Ewen, age 85, of Pemberton passed away Friday, April 7 at home. Born in Lumberton, she lived in Southampton Twp. before moving to Pemberton. Rose formerly lived in New York State for many years. Rose previously worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in Campbell, NY and was an Executive Secretary for Bethany Nursing Home in NY. She was a member of the Vincentown United Methodist Church and a past officer of the United Methodist Women. Rose was a member of the Vincentown Historical Society, the Vincentown Village Women’s Club, the Vincentown Grange and she was the Director of the Leisuretown Singers. She was a member of the Eastern Star Southern Light Chapter in Breesport, NY and she was a literacy volunteer. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Rev. David B. Ewen; her parents, William and Daisy (Webb) Shearer and a brother, William Shearer, Jr. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Brian Tennis of Quakertown, PA and Bonnie and Adam Merrill of Pemberton with whom she resided; a son and his wife, David and Trish Ewen, Jr. of Fuquay-Varina, NC; four grandchildren, William Ewen and wife Nahema, Molly Rose Ewen, Lindsey Tennis and Adam Merrill, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Webb of NJ and Nancy Leard of Ambler, PA; a brother-in-law, George Saurman of Ft. Washington, PA; a cousin, Anna Lurty of Medford and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Rose will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 AM at the Vincentown United Methodist Church, 97 Main Street, Vincentown, NJ 08088 with Pastor Dave Ledford officiating. Interment will be in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rose’s memory can be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 1040 North Kings Highway, Suite 100, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
