Richard P. Drury, Jr., age 56, of New Egypt passed away Wednesday, November 30 at RWJ University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, he resided in Hamilton before moving to New Egypt 21 years ago. Richard proudly served in the US Army for 20 years, 7 years active duty and 13 years in the reserves. He has worked for the past 30 years for the Amtrak Police Department where he currently had the rank of Sergeant. Richard was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption and was a member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457 where he enjoyed playing poker and pool. He enjoyed listening to music, but most of all he loved to spend time with his children. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Ellen (Gaynor) Drury, Sr. and a brother, Michael Drury. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, JoAnne (Belloff) Drury; 5 children, Richard Drury III and companion Jess Miller and their daughter Penelope (his first grandchild) of Cookstown, Connor Drury, Shannon Drury, Shaun Drury and Dominic Drury all of New Egypt; a granddaughter, Penelope Drury-Miller of Cookstown; 3 sisters, Lynn Taeffner and husband Joe of South Brunswick, Anne Shivayka of New Jersey and Kelly Papadem of Florida and several nieces and nephews as well as grand nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 6 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ 08562, with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Monday, December 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.TilghmanFH.com).
