Bertha H. Ryan, age 91, of Cream Ridge, NJ, formerly of Sewaren,NJ passed away on November 4, 2013 at Centra State Hospital in Freehold. She was born to Albert and Susanna Skowron in Westport, Mass. in 1921. She and her late husband, George J. Ryan, lived most of their married life in Sewaren, NJ. She is survived by her children: George P. Ryan and wife Mary, Karen Wasylyk and husband Dean, and Elaine Walker and husband Bruce and a sister Eleanor Kowalczyk. Bertha, or "Bert", was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren: Tim, Alicia, Ciara Ryan, and Axton, Jared, Dakota Walker and formerly Dakota Jost. As a Wave, Bert served in the United States Navy in the War Room at the Pentagon during World War II. Her service to our country was one of her most treasured memories. During her career she worked for many large trucking companies as a clerical worker. The viewing for Bert will be held at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com) on Monday, November 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537) in Wrightstown, NJ with the burial to follow at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
