Henry Lopez of Mansfield Twp. passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at home. He was 85.
Born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, and raised in El Paso, Texas. Henry was a longtime resident of Philadelphia before moving to Mansfield Twp. in 2008.
Henry was a retired Lt. Colonel from the U. S. Air Force. He served during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. During his time in Philadelphia, he was a co-owner of the Meson Don Quijote Restaurant for 10 years and a school teacher in the Philadelphia school system. Henry received his Masters Degree from Temple University in Education.
Henry was passionate about his gardening and cooking. He was a member of the Philadelphia Garden Club and Horticulture Society, Church of the Assumption in New Egypt and Knights of Columbus in Virginia.
Henry is predeceased by his parents, Pedro and Concepcion Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Julia Lopez of Philadelphia; one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Denise Lopez of Huntington Valley, Pa.; two daughters and two son-in-laws, Elizabeth Lopez and Michael Labrum of North Hanover Twp.; Cynthia and Michael Perez of Miami Springs, Fl.; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Julia, Michael, Joseph, Patrick, Mateo, Carly and Chloe.
Funeral Services for Henry will be held on Friday, September 27, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road in Wrightstown, N.J. 08562.
Burial will follow in the BGWCDVeterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown,N.J.
A viewing for friends and relatives will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt, N.J. 08533.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his memory to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001.
