Hugh B. Byrne, Sr., age 73, of New Egypt died Friday, July 1 at his residence. Born in New Egypt, he was a lifetime area resident. Hugh was a self-employed electrical contractor and formerly was a union electrician with the IBEW Local 269 in Trenton and the IBEW Local 358 in Perth Amboy. He was also a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Hugh was predeceased by his parents, Harry G. and Hazel F. Byrne, his wife, Marion Byrne and a daughter, Eleanor Ann Dilts. He is survived by three children, Hugh B. Byrne, Jr. and wife Wendy Gail of Clarksville, FL, Hazel Marie (Byrne) Skinner of Clarksville, FL and Joseph Dilts of New Egypt; a brother Robert Byrne of Ellsworth, Maine; a sister, Patricia Lavero of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and thirteen nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Hugh will be held on Thursday evening, July 7 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Graveside funeral services will be on Friday, July 8 at 3:00 PM at Zion Cemetery on Lakewood Road (Route 528) in New Egypt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hugh?s memory may be made to a local charity of the donor?s choice.
